Accordions are a great feature if you need to display a lot of content on one page, or if you have content that only some of your visitors will care about, such as Frequently Asked Questions or obscure, technical asides. Accordions give readers more control over the content they see, and more control is a good thing, usually.
Sometimes readers get frustrated if they need to click to see content they’re interested in, so if all the content on your page is important, it’s best to display everything, hide nothing, and let the reader scroll on through.
For the website I designed for my company’s mathematics project, I used accordions to show/hide the work being done by different partner campuses. In total, it’s a lot of information to display at once. With the accordions, visitors can see what each group is working on without feeling overwhelmed at the amount of information.
